Recent Buys

It feels really good to be in a position to continue to put fresh capital to work. Anyone can look at the stock market like any other market or store. It offers a lot of merchandise, some expensive, some cheap. In the end it’s up to the individual to pick what’s best for them!

As I mentioned in the previous “Recent Buys” I will show the other 6 stocks I brought when the market went for a wild ride in the Fall of 2015.

Purchased 2 shares of Unilever (UL) on 8/26/15 for $ 40.10 per share

Purchased 2 shares of Waste Management (WM) on 10/26/15 for $ 50.22 per share

Purchased 2 shares of Philip Morris (PM) on 8/26/15 for $ 78.42 per share

Purchased 3 shares of Wal-Mart (WMT) on 10/20/15 for $ 58.84 per share

Purchased 2 shares of Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) on 10/28/15 for $ 99.75 per share

Purchased 6 shares of Spectra Energy(SE) on 8/26/15 for $ 26.91 per share

All the stocks above do business all over the world except WM and SE and I want to continue to add to my positions as time moves on. Even though I broke my rule of buying bulks of 10 or more I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity since stocks dropped so much around the time of purchase. Out of the six above I am positive for three of them and receiving dividends from all of them as my wealth grows, which is always a great thing!

Even though 2016 has been pretty rough in the first two months so far, we still have a long road ahead of us. As long as you have some stable companies on your side you should be able to ride this wave 2008 style just fine.

  1. I also jumped on some stocks in the big August 2015 drop. I grabbed JNJ, UTX, AFL, TROW and some others. The stocks bought then actually became the core of my Robin Hood account. And like you I always try to average down when I can. It’s much easier to average down when the market has been so volatile for the last year.

  2. Jamieson,

Yes I just couldn’t pass it up and there great companies so they won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Its funny because if you look at my other posts of recent buys some people thought it wasn’t a real good idea, but as you said the market has been volatile so most of those stocks have actually bounced back.

Funny what a little bit of time can do! haha
